剧情介绍：
　　世代を超えて読み継がれる高森朝夫（梶原一騎）とちばてつや原作のボクシングロマンのアニメ化。巨匠演出家・出崎統の出世作でもある。放浪の孤児・矢吹丈はその秘めたボクサーとしての才能を、拳闘界を追われた中年男・丹下段平に見出される。だが丈は、心身の自立とボクサーとしての精進を願う段平の情熱を裏切って罪を犯し、少年院送りになった。やがてその少年院で彼は、己の人生を変える男・力石徹と出会うことになる。
